Are you an affiliate marketer? This form of marketing can be highly profitable, however the amount of money you make depends on how effectively you work. Everyone has only so many hours in the day which they can devote to their projects, so you need to make the most effective use of your time.

Let’s look at three essential time management tips.

1. Create a Product Selection Plan

Start by creating a plan by which you select new products. Write out the process you follow in a list, and work out how long each step in the process takes you. Now you know how long it takes you to select a product.

Could you save time at any step in this process?

Streamline your process, so that you eliminate wasted time.

2. Create a Plan to Promote Your Products

Now you have a time-saving plan to select products, you need a plan to promote them.

Whatever form of promotion you use, whether you use PPC advertising, free advertising, or use a process like article marketing, everything takes time.

Which product makes the most money for you? If a product is making money for you, you’ve worked out a way to promote it which works. Write down your process, and work out how long it takes.

Now you know how long it takes you to promote one successful product, work out how many hours each week you can spare for promotion. Once you know how many hours you can devote to it, you can schedule those hours.

3. Schedule Time, Every Day — Get up Earlier

The harder you work, the luckier you get.

Therefore the more hours you can devote to your affiliate marketing business, the more profitable your business will be.

The easiest way to add more hours to your day is to get up earlier. Get up an hour earlier than you do now and devote that hour to your business.

Are you using article marketing to promote affiliate products? This can be a very effective strategy, however it’s also a much-used strategy, so there’s lots of competition. Here are three reasons that it may not be working for you.

1. You’re Promoting the Wrong Product(s)

If you’re promoting products which are extremely popular, you have lots of competition. This means that you’ll need to think of innovative ways in which to get people to buy from your affiliate link. You can’t do the same promotions that everybody else is doing and expect to make lots of sales.

Products come into fashion, and they go out of fashion, so ideally you’ll start promoting a product when it’s just coming into fashion — just before it gets hot. If you’re promoting when a product is nearing the end of its popularity, you won’t make sales.

You need to test lots of products, and then focus on the products which start to make sales.

2. You’re Promoting to the Wrong Audience

Every product in existence has more than one audience, but affiliate marketers focus on one audience to the exclusion of others.

Choose a product which you’re currently promoting and think about other audiences the product might be suitable for. Then test the product, by using article marketing to focus on the new audience you’ve selected.

3. You’re Just Not Promoting Enough

Article marketing is effective and it’s very inexpensive. The benefit of articles is that they stay online for years, and keep selling for you for years. However, because article marketing is so effective, and because there’s a low cost of entry, it’s very competitive.

How many articles have you written to promote your latest product? If you’ve only written ten articles, you probably haven’t written enough. Depending on the niche, expect to have anywhere from 100 to 500 articles working for you, for each product group you’re promoting.

Yes, it’s a lot of articles. However you don’t need to write them all next week, you should be promoting many products, and over time you’ll build up the number of articles you have promoting each product.

You can make great money with affiliate marketing when you write articles, if you’re using the right strategies.

Are you new to creating information products? If you are, you need a process to follow which makes it easy. Once you’ve created your first ebook, the next one will be much easier and from then on there will be no stopping you.

Let’s look at three steps you can follow.

1. How-To Ebooks Are Easy: What Do You Know How to Do?

If you need to do a lot of research, you can spend so much time on it that you never get around to creating your product.

Therefore choose a how-to topic — something which you know how to do, and which others want to learn, and which you can easily explain in your product.

Make a list of five things which you know very well, and which others would pay to learn to do. Think about your hobbies, what you’re doing your job, and what you do in your free time. Everyone has areas in which they’re an expert.

2. Outline the How-To Process: Keep It Simple

Choose one topic from your list of five.

Don’t worry about whether it’s the best topic; you’ll create more than one product. Think of this first product as a learning process. You’re learning how to do something which can make incredible money for you over time.

Next, create a list of steps in the how-to process. For example, if you want to teach someone the basics of creating an ebook cover in Photoshop, write down the steps one after another, in a list. You’re creating your ebook (or video product) chapters.

At the beginning of the list, write “Introduction”. This chapter introduces the topic, and the author, and gives instructions on how to use the ebook.

Drop down one line and write “Why.”

You need to tell people why they should learn how to create their own ebook covers in Photoshop. Reasons you could give include: it saves them money, once they know how to do it they can make money selling their services, and so on.

3. Write As if You’re Talking to a Friend: Tell Him How to Do It

Writing is easy when you think of it as talking. The best writing is completely transparent. You feel as if the writer is speaking directly to you, as if you’re chatting chat over coffee or a beer.

Go through all the steps in your list (chapters) one by one.
