Choose one product, and work with it exclusively for at least a week or two. Get to know the product, and think about who buys the product, and why. Once you know, work out a campaign for marketing this product.

Your marketing campaign could include: creating a Web site or blog for this product, writing articles and posting them to directories, and becoming active on forums. All these tactics are well known. They work - but only if you apply them methodically.

2. Have Patience - People Need to Hear About a Product Several Times Before They Buy

As an affiliate marketer, you can sell anything with an affiliate program, but you need to understand how the sales cycle works.

First, a consumer hears about the product. He may be interested. Next, a consumer considers buying the product and wants to learn more about it. Finally, maybe just hours or even years later, he buys the product.

Some affiliate marketers try to grab consumers as late in the sales cycle as they can - when they’re ready to buy. This works for some products, and it can work for you too.

However, do remember that the sales cycle exists, and that consumers take time to make decisions. So you need patience.

I’ve seen many newbies begin to promote a product, and perhaps even make a sale, but then give up when they were close to building a great little business if only they’d continued.

3. Get Creative - Your Creativity Equals Cash

You need to create a marketing campaign for every product you promote. If you do this, you will succeed beyond your dreams.

When you’re creating a campaign (just write down the steps you’ll take, and assign tasks with due dates to those steps), get creative. Avoid using the sales material the product manager offers to affiliates. Thousands of other people are using those materials.

Get creative. Write your own materials, remembering that you’re pre-selling, you’re not selling - leave the sales to the product’s sales page.
