The #1 biggest block in making money online

Want to make money online? If you’re reading this, the answer is obviously yes.

Most people who attempt to make money online however, will fail.

Here’s why: they don’t believe firstly that it’s possible at all (they believe that everyone is scamming), and secondly they don’t believe that it’s possible for them, personally.

There’s an the old saying, “If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right”.

I get email messages every day which prove this, in spades. The gist of the messages is something like this: “I’ve heard that you can ______, but I’ve been scammed so often/ I don’t think/ can I really?/ but what if?…”

My assistant gets these messages, and she’s been told to delete them, because if someone thinks they can’t, they can’t, and that’s the end of that.

So what’s the biggest block?

The biggest block in making money online is simply mindset. That’s all. If you think you can, you can. But if you think you can’t, then for now, until you develop some maturity, you can’t.

Who will make money online?

Here’s who will make money online: anyone who totally commits, decides that if it’s possible for others to make great incomes from their home office, and simply decides to do it, will succeed.

Listen. You don’t need to be a genius to make money online. I’m living proof of that. :-) You can make a great income with nothing more than an Internet connection, a computer, and time.

There are endless ways you can achieve your goals, and once you commit, you’ll achieve them faster than you think possible.

If you’re stuck in the “can’t” mindset, that’s perfectly fine. It’s just your perception. It may never change, and that’s fine too. Stop trying to force it. You will either wake up one day and realize I CAN do this, or you won’t.

It’s an impossible question to answer, because the best tool depends on your needs at the moment:

* Are you launching a Pay Per Click campaign?

* Doing article marketing?

This is an all-purpose everyday tool. It gives you basic information, which is all you need in many situations.

Great tool if you’re creating your own money-making sites. I love it because it quickly finds all profitable, low-competition keywords, which are perfect for building sites around, and making money quickly.

Copywriting is a great home business

Developing a copywriting services business makes sense if you want to write from home.

How does $250 an hour sound to you? Copywriters are in high demand.

There’s no limitations on who can write copy. Neither age nor education is a bar: your clients don’t care.

Blogging: Top 5 Ways to Get Traffic from Social Media Sites

The social media sites like Twitter and Facebook can help you to get traffic to your blog. If you don’t have much money to spend on promotion, these sites can provide you with traffic, for free.

Let’s look at the top five ways to get traffic from the social media sites.

1. Blog Often: More Content and More Followers Mean More Traffic

You’ll be encouraging your followers to visit your blog, therefore it’s essential that you have content for them to read.

One of the big challenges is that it’s hard to get this kind of traffic to convert. Visitors stay for seconds, and leave. Therefore, your aim should be to convert as many visitors as possible so that they become regular readers.

If your blog is new, that is under a year old, you should be spending more time blogging and adding content, than interacting on the social media sites. The more content you have, the more chances you’ll have to win regular readers.

2. Make the News With a Press Release

Many of the commercial press release services include social media options. Investing in several news releases over three months is a great investment in search engine rankings, and blog traffic.

3. Set Goals, and Create a Plan

Do you have goals for your blog? Many new bloggers don’t. I encourage you to create some goals. The five minutes you invest now ensure that your blog will continue to grow, and will deliver the results you want.

You may have several goals, but focus on one goal at a time, and create a blog in plan for each goal.

4. Make It Easy for Followers to Subscribe via RSS

Make the most of your blog’s RSS feed.

Encourage your blog’s visitors to subscribe via a newsreader. Your aim should be not merely to get traffic, but to increase your subscribers. A great way to do this is to offer an incentive for subscriptions.

Many autoresponder applications can integrate with your RSS feed, so that each time you make a post, it’s sent to your subscribers via email.

5. Ask Questions, and Get Ideas for Your Blog

The social media sites are all about interaction. Ask questions of others, and answer the questions that others have posted. Then create blog posts about these questions and your responses.

You can also mine your Twitter stream for blog content ideas: when you blog about what’s being discussed, you’ll get more traffic.

And here’s my favorite way to get more traffic, using articles: I mine my analytics program.

Each week I check the analytics for a site to discover the keywords which gained the most traffic. Then I write articles for the article directories, using those search terms.

The result? More traffic.

How to find an affiliate product to promote

Many new affiliate marketers are hesitant to start, because they’re not sure how to find a product to promote.

Often they’ll choose a product in which they have little or no interest, simply because others are making money with the product. This can be a mistake, especially if you have no personal interest in the product.

Let’s look at three easy ways in which you can choose a product which you can promote with enthusiasm, so that you can make sales quickly.

1. Consider your life experience

What’s happening in your life right now? Perhaps you’re new mom. If so there’s an endless variety of parenting products which you can promote. Think about products which you’ve purchased recently.

Perhaps you bought a pram. Find out whether the pram has an affiliate program. If so, you’re in a great position to market that product well. You know the pros and cons of the product, so you can sell with enthusiasm, and will make many sales.

2. Consider your obsessions

Perhaps you love fashion, or you love to travel. Both areas offer plentiful affiliate programs.

Anything which you love to study, read about, and talk about, is a good area in which to search for affiliate programs.

3. Watch out for new product launches

Whenever a new product is launched, many affiliates start promoting it. This means that there’s an incredible amount of buzz, which leads to recognition, and sales.

Choose a product which is coming out soon, and make plans to promote it. Learn everything you can about it. Affiliate program managers usually make lots of material available — they’ll give you creative material like banner ads, as well as copy for sales pages. This gives you a great head start in promoting the product.

The easiest way to get traffic, and sales

Affiliate marketers are always looking for traffic. More traffic equals more sales, right?

Yes and no.

I’ve been looking over my stats for 2009, and here’s what I found: niche blogs I own with minimal traffic (50 or so visitors a day) are making the most income for me. These dinky little blogs (most have fewer than ten posts), get traffic and make sales, week after week.

These little charmers get no love from me. I don’t promote them anywhere, because I have other larger blogs which have my focus. To be honest, my interest in the topic of these little blogs is just about zero. I created them to make money, and they do.

So what’s the easiest way to get traffic and get sales?

Here you go:

1. Choose a niche in which people have real problems (weight loss and other health challenges are good, people worry about their health; it impacts every area of their life). Narrow the niche down if it’s very broad;

2. Create a blog. Choose a domain name which is related to the niche;

3. Write blog posts over the course of a month or two. (Give good information, as well as product reviews);

4. Add the blog to RSS directories;

5. Write an article or two for article directories.

That’s it. Do that, and you’ll get targeted traffic and you’ll make sales.

Being yourself online: should you use an avatar?

If you’re a “forum marketer” — that is, you use interaction on forums to promote your products — should you hide behind an avatar, or use your own photograph?

Internet marketing is becoming more much more competitive, no matter what niche you’re in. Therefore, it pays to become more professional, simply because professionalism engenders trust.

Definitely, you should use your own photograph.

It builds credibility, and relationships with your buyers.

Of course, if you’re active in several niches, and those niches have no real connection with each other, you may well use a persona you’ve created, which means you can’t use your own photo.

There’s nothing wrong with using a created persona, if you’re prepared to admit that this is what you’re doing if someone challenges you, and you’re not trying to defraud anyone, or harm anyone. Large companies often use personas in their letters to customers, so it’s an accepted practice.

However, as much as possible, aim to be completely yourself online. You’ll build your online business, as you build your brand and reputation.

Looking for a great money-making WordPress theme?

If you’ve got a WordPress blog, you know that a good theme is rare. A GREAT theme is almost impossible to find, even if you’re prepared to pay big bucks.

I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on themes which were completely worthless.

So when you find a theme which is truly easy to setup, and is designed for marketers, you want to tell everyone about it. I’ve just changed this site over to the FlexSqueeze theme.

It’s new to me, and I’m thrilled I found it. The theme is clean, is customizable, and just works. It’s the latest version of the Flexibility theme, which I’ve used previously, and I love this new incarnation. I’ll be converting many of my blogs to this amazing theme.

Watch some of the videos — you’ll be amazed at what it can do. (And if you’ve been burned by commercial themes, I understand; it makes you wary. But this theme performs exactly as advertised.)

Initially I looked at the theme for the squeeze page functionality, and I will be using it for that, but what thrills me is how easy this theme is to install, and to use to start making money. NO fiddling, so it’s great if you’re new to WordPress.

Great stuff. FlexSqueeze has just become my favorite theme. Yes, it beats Thesis, which I use on my freelance writing blog and still love — FlexSqueeze just has way more features for online marketers.
