Want to make money with AdSense?

Adding Google AdSense advertising to your site is an easy way of making money online — it’s completely set and forget. Just add the ads, and you’re good to go.

If you’re new to this, you may have some questions.

Which ad format should I use?

Take a good look at how your website is laid out; can you see where some AdSense ads can be placed? You can put them within your content and/or you can place them in your site borders. Pay attention to how much room you have.

If you want to place them in your master border of your website or in a widget on your blog, the format is going to depend on how much space you have – width and length. Experiment with the different formats to see which fit and which look good.

Keep in mind that long skinny ads can be hard to read because the ad wording is all chopped up. Our eyes want to read more than 2 or 3 words before being forced to move back to the left to start a new line. According to AdSense, their best performing ads are the 336×280 Large Rectangle, the 300×250 Medium Rectangle, and the 160×600 Wide Skyscraper.

Adding AdSense to content is not as restrictive and you can use any size rectangle or square ad unit. Don’t just settle on your first pick though; test, test, test to figure out which placements earn you the most.

If you’re really limited on space, think about using the link unit ads. They’re perfect for tight fits where you’d love to place some advertising. You can use either vertical or horizontal link units.

You can use a combination of text ads, link units, and image ads, but you are limited to the number of each you can use on your site. Check AdSense’s TOS for the exact number. You probably shouldn’t use all that you can anyway; it can make the information on your site hard to read and lends a spammy quality to it.

Should I use image ads or text ads?

Google AdSense encourages you to use both and offers an option for that. What it means is your ad spot may be either an image or a text.

Many people argue against using image ads because it was overdone in the past and people are blind to them now. Since so many people aren’t using image ads these days, perhaps now is the time to start putting them on your site.

I say, give it a try and see which perform better for you.

What colors should I use?

It depends on the colors already used on your site. Take note of the background color, font color, header colors, and any additional colors used in the content.

You have three choices:

Blend – This would be choosing a white background for the ad if your site has a white background, no borders around your ads, and the title color one of the colors on your site. If your site’s words are black, but you do titles in red, then consider having your ad titles in the same red.

Complement – This means don’t be as matchy-matchy as you would be if you were blending. Maybe you want a border around your ad, or you don’t want the ad background color to be exactly the same as the website background color. Otherwise, you use existing colors from your site.

Contrast – Perhaps you have a website with black background and white lettering. An AdSense box with a black background won’t stand out and might not be noticed. Consider a contrasting background color for the ad.

If the same people come to your site often, they may have become blind to your ads. Take some time to move them around and change colors. Not only will this help them get noticed, it tests what works best.

If you take the time to choose your AdSense ad formats and colors wisely and then experiment and test, you’ll be optimizing the AdSense earnings. It’s worth it to spend the time initially to find out what looks the most pleasing to the eye as well as how the number of ads look in proportion to the amount of content.

Organic Traffic vs Pay Per Click Traffic

The primary difference that exists between pay per click traffic and ordinary organic traffic is the costs that are incurred by the advertisers when working with a pay per click program. When it comes to generating traffic through pay per click advertising, the advertiser has to make a small payment each time a user clicks on one of their pay per click advertisements. When it comes to organic traffic on the other hand, all of the leads and the clicks that are generated by users are completely free and cost no money to the advertiser.

Pay Per Click Traffic

Pay per click advertisements, which are also commonly referred to as PPC advertisements can add up and become expensive. If not managed correctly, a pay per click traffic generation campaign can quickly fail or become expensive and impossible to manage. However, when it comes to generating pay per click traffic, there are three things that you should keep in mind to help yourself get the most out of such a program.

1 – PPC is an excellent method for marketing that can create a large amount of buzz around a particular product or service very quickly.

2 – It tends to be relatively inexpensive, especially in comparison to other methods of traditional advertising and marketing.

3 – PPC is very flexible, and can be either a short term advertising campaign or a long term one depending on what your individual needs are.

There are several different key initiatives that you should executive as an advertiser working on the initial setup behind a pay per click type of advertising campaign, as well as while managing that campaign, and these are:

- Ad creativity, because it is vital that your ad be well written, focused and creative.

- Landing page, because having a landing page that is well thought out before you set your pay per click traffic campaign up is absolutely essential. Your landing page should have content that relates to your advertisement online. A good landing page can mean all the difference when it comes to generating a high number of conversions.

- Call to action, as a call to action is a prominent and necessary element of your page that should be located “above the fold” rather than requiring that a visitor to your website scroll down before a call to action is offered.

- Testing, because you should always test your website, new ad creatives, your landing page’s capabilities, call to action locations and how these different elements affect your conversion rates when it comes to generating pay per click traffic. The difference between a successful PPC campaign and one that is unsuccessful often has to do with whether or not you are testing new options. Such as ads and calls to action because these details really do make all the difference when it comes to creating an ad campaign for PPC that is going to generate results.

Frankly these are just some of the basics organic traffic vs pay per click traffic. For you to practice either one profitably you need to acquire as much expertise as you can.

Pay For Click Internet Marketing Basics

One of the most popular forms of internet advertising is known as pay for click internet marketing. You may have also heard of this as Pay Per Click marketing or PPC. Essentially, this is a powerful means for business owners to reach a completely targeted audience. PFC internet marketing gives small business owners the ability to compete at the same level as their competitors. This form of advertising relies on the use of targeted keywords, coupled with landing pages and on-site optimization.

In order to understand how pay for click internet marketing works, it is important to first look at how internet users search for items they are interested in. Typically, they will go to one of the big three search engines, including Google, Yahoo and MSN. Once they are there, they simply type in what they are looking for.

This returns results based on the query that they typed in. The regular or organic results will be displayed, but you will also see paid ads. These paid ads may also be referred to as sponsored results. The ads that display are called up by the search engine according to the keywords that were assigned to them.

In order to effectively utilize pay for click internet marketing, an advertiser must first develop a list of targeted keywords. This allows them to find what is called a niche, or an audience that is already seeking what the business has to offer. This formula is preferred by business owners since half the battle, interesting the consumer, has already been accomplished.

Once a user sees an ad that they are interested in, they will click it to be delivered to the business owner’s website or landing page. This will result in an actual charge to the advertiser, which is typically calculated according to keyword popularity. There is no charge to display this type of advertising, since it is entirely action based.

Business owners can control how much they spend on their pay for click internet marketing campaigns very easily. All that is required is a set budget, the keywords that will be used, and the rest is handled by the search engine. Ads will continue to display until that set budget runs out.

This form of advertising has numerous benefits, including cost control and effective targeting for a niche. As mentioned previously, small companies have the capability of competing with larger entities. This is due to the fact that you are allowed to bid competitively on your desired keyword. Your only constraints are your budget.

When a business owner first starts out with this form of advertising, it may be necessary to test several different keywords, landing pages and techniques. Patience is required since finding the right set of ads may take a few tries. With perseverance however, you can easily use these ads to reach out to your intended audience, even if you are on a tight budget. Pay for click internet marketing has leveled the playing field and has quickly risen to being the preferred method of advertising for thousands of site owners.
