Want to become a blog millionaire? Blogging is a great home business. Not only can you make money from your armchair, but starting is easy… just start.

Yes – start. Starting intimidates blogging newbies, but you can only learn how to blog by blogging. In the days, weeks and months you spend “learning”, you could be making money. This is because blogging is experiential: you can only learn by doing.

Every niche (topic area) is different, and you’ll need different techniques to get traffic and income, so if the idea of blogging intrigues you – start, don’t wait.

How to Get Started – Use Blogger

Almost every blogger has used Google’s Blogger platform at some stage, and many experienced bloggers have many blogs on that platform, so don’t feel that you need to buy a domain name and install WordPress before you start to blog.

Yes, WordPress is great, and you will eventually want to move to WordPress or another Content Management System like Joomla, but since you can create a Blogger blog in less an a minute, use that.

For your first blog, choose a topic you enjoy writing about. Your “starter” blog is exactly that. Chances are you’ll create several blogs before you hit on a topic which is not only easy and exciting for you, but which draws a lot of traffic and makes you a great income.

Among my blogging students, my biggest headache is convincing them that you can’t make a mistake blogging. Every blog you create, and each post you write, teaches you something. And the more you learn, the closer you are to creating a great blog.

A Warning – Stick to the Point

Most of any blog’s traffic comes directly from the search engines. This means that you need to focus your blog. Don’t create an “everything” blog, writing about sports, your life, your kids, politics, and vacations, because you have no hope of getting traffic from the search engines.

Stick to a single topic, and don’t consider writing about yourself. In our example above, your blog could be about basketball or any other sport. If you wanted to write about politics, create another blog. Ditto if you wanted to write about great vacation spots.

Stick to the point, and you’ll get traffic.

You can turn a blog into a great home business, and make money every day from your armchair… just start.

Did you know that even if you’re a total newbie to making money online, you can get traffic, and make sales from that traffic, by writing articles? Here are four steps to success.

I’ve been online since the 1980s, way before the Web. Over the years I’ve tried just about every method to get traffic, but the magical formula to getting all the traffic I want is simple: write articles which are crafted to get traffic from the search engines.

Here’s how – just follow these steps.

1. What Do Your Visitors Want to Know? Tell Them

Every article starts with your audience. What do they want to know? Make a list. This list will give you lots of ideas.

If you’re new to writing articles, you may be worried that you’ll give all your secrets away. Forget that concern. There’s so much to cover on any topic that that isn’t a problem.

Your prospects are looking for information; if you can provide it, you’re golden.

2. Use a Keyword Tool and Write Descriptions for Your Articles

If you’re not using a keyword tool – start now. Your traffic finds you via the keywords they type into search engine query fields – you must know what those keywords are and use them.

When you’re posting articles to your own sites, write descriptions, and put the description into the description meta tag. Your descriptions show up on the search query results pages – they’re advertisements for your articles. A great description gets clicks.

3. Post Your Articles to Article Directories

The article directories bring you traffic – they’ll bring you most of your traffic when your Web site is new. Even when you’re site starts getting traffic, the article directories will keep sending you traffic for years to come.

So post some of your articles to article directories.

4. Blog – the Search Engines Love Blogs

You need a blog. Blogs are indexed much more quickly than static sites, so create a blog, and post articles to your blog as well as to your primary site.

Add your blog to blog directories, and as you post articles to your blog, they will send you traffic, as well as the traffic you receive from direct searches.

So there you have four simple steps to turning articles into traffic. Writing articles ensures that you have an ever-increasing flow of traffic to your site – and that means an ever-increasing income.

Want to make big money from your blog? Thousands of people are already doing that. You can too, if you avoid four fatal mistakes.

A money making blog is a destination; it has loyal readers, because it provides them with information and entertainment they can get nowhere else. It’s important to keep this in mind, because the amount of income you make from your blog depends on your traffic.

So let’s look at the four fatal mistake to avoid.

1. You Write About Yourself

If you’re not a celebrity – that is, if you’ve never hit the front pages of a newspaper – don’t write about yourself.

You could do this successfully, if you have writing skill and can write like Dave Barry, but for 99.5 per cent of bloggers writing about yourself and your life is a fatal mistake.

2. You Write in Areas in Which There Are No Advertisers

As soon as you decide on a subject for your blog, check whether there are advertisers. Here’s a tip: if there’s a glossy advertising-supported magazine on your subject, you’re good to go.

Type the subject of your blog into Google’s search query field, and look to check whether there are Sponsored Links on the right of the query results page. If there are, your subject has advertisers, and again, you’re good to go.

3. You Lack Enthusiasm for your Subject

Does your blog’s subject excite you? I’m a writer, so I’d write about writing even if no one ever paid me to do it.

You’ll need passion for your subject, because blogging is a marathon, rather than a sprint. You need the enthusiasm to write about your subject every day.

A lack of enthusiasm for the subject of the blog is the main reason many blogs which are otherwise well thought out, and which have great potential, fail.

4. You Rehash Material That’s Available Elsewhere

Over the past year, everyone has discovered blogging, from major corporations to kids. So aim to project your own ideas, thoughts, experiences and insights into your blog.

If your blog just covers what everyone covers about the subject matter, there’s no reason for people to return to your blog every day.

So there you have four fatal mistakes to avoid for a money making blog. Will your blog be a success? Of course it will – get started today.
