Information products sell, right? You already know this, if you’ve been in Internet marketing for more than ten minutes. So you need your own product, because it means that you have on-going sales, day after day and week after week.

All well and good, you’re thinking… but you don’t have a product.

Yes, you do. You’ve got lots of material which you could convert into an ebook or other info product within 24 or 48 hours, no sweat.

The Fastest-Ever Way to Create an Information Product

It’s simple: use what you’ve already created — just repurpose all that stuff you have lying around on your hard drive, and on the web.

You can repurpose the following kinds of content into an ebook, or other information product:

* Convert an ebook you’ve written into a video course (or you can just convert a PLR ebook, for that matter);

* Convert your blog content into any kind of information product — ebook, video or audio course, membership site. It’s your blog, you can do what you like with your own material;

* Convert forum posts into an ebook. I hope you save your forum posts. :-) I admit that I didn’t, until a couple of years ago. Now I save every post I make, because they’re my words, and often spark ideas (and content) for a product somewhere down the road (please note you can’t use others’ posts);

* Convert email messages into an ebook. We all get questions. Save the responses you give — they can lead to an entire product. If one person asks you something, 50 others may be wondering the same thing (you can only use what you wrote, not what others wrote to you. If you want to use others’ words, get written permission);

* Convert your best articles into an ebook, or other info product. I have literally thousands of articles I’ve written over the years. I’m sure you have articles too. Many of your articles make the ideal jumping-off place for an info product. Bulk the product out with your own forum posts, your responses to email messages, and some PLR content, and you’re done.

Super-big, IMPORTANT warning: use your own stuff, no-one else’s

If you’re experienced online, you know this already.

If you’re inexperienced, please remember that the only material you can re-use and repurpose is material to which you have the copyright. Your own blog posts, your own email messages (NOT what others wrote to you), and your own forum posts (no-one else’s).

One point: a blogging friend to whom I suggested that he repurpose his blog posts said: “They’ve read it already!” He maintained that his readers wouldn’t pay for the same old, same old.

Hard as it may be to believe, 99.999 per cent of your readers will never read all your posts. You should be so lucky. :-) And the one reader in 100,000 who actually ploughs through it all will appreciate having it all in one easily-accessible format.

You’ll find too, that when you repurpose content, you add, delete, and revise, because you’ve gained experience since you wrote the material, and you have more to say.

Writing and selling ebooks is a great home business. You can start part-time, and then turn it into a full-time profession. However, the key is “bestselling.”

Not every ebook you create will become a bestseller, but with a little thought and planning, you can increase the odds considerably that your ebook will sell not one, but many copies every day.

Knowledge For Sale – How To Pick Bestselling Topics

Everyone has problems. Some problems we’re strongly aware of. Perhaps we have relationship or financial problems, or a health challenge. Other problems are just irritations – we’d like a solution, and would snap up an ebook if it seemed to present one.

The key to creating bestselling ebooks is to zero in on the problems which people have, and for which they want a quick solution.

If you’ve purchased ebooks in the past (I hope you have, if you’re going into this business) write down the names of the ebooks and WHY you bought them.

“Why” can give you topics for bestselling ebooks.

For example, I bought an ebook on getting started with Mac computers when I switched from Windows to a Mac. Macs are blindingly simple to use, but as a Windows user, I was used to doing things the hard way, and the ebook quickly helped me to become a Mac person.

It wasn’t a great ebook, and at the time I thought of writing a better one. If I had time, I’d still do it, because people are switching from Windows to Macs every day, and they need to know – quickly – how to get comfortable with their new machine… and they’re willing to pay for that knowledge.

When you find a topic, use a search engine to check whether others are selling ebooks on that topic. If they are, this is a signal that you should investigate further. If no one is selling an ebook on that topic, proceed with caution. It’s likely that no one has had the idea, but it’s also likely that no one buys ebooks on that topic.

So take a little time to think, plan and investigate before you write your ebook (or hire someone to write it for you). Your next ebook may become a bestseller, and the foundation of a great home business.

An information product is simply any a portion of knowledge that can now be passed on to others. The information can be put into an e-book, e-course, a special report, an MP3 recording, a teleclass or even a membership website.

Creating and selling information products is a great way to earn a passive, residual income from home. It does not matter if you are a college student, a grandparent, or somewhere in between, you have information in your head that people are willing to pay for. In addition to topics you are already familiar with, it is easy to research topics you have no prior experience with, and create information products around them.

If you are a virtual assistant, for example, you may have a great client base and are able to earn a nice income from home. However, you cannot work twenty-four hours per day. Your income potential is limited to the amount of hours you can work in a day. As you grow your business, you attract more clients and receive more work. Your reward for hard work is more work. If you want to go on vacation or retire, your income stops.

On the other hand, when you create and sell information products, you are creating unlimited income potential for yourself. You work once on creating your product, and then you can sell it over and over again via a website, twenty-four hours per day.

You will still have to market your product, but you have unlimited potential to earn income off of the hours of work you put into the product. With a standard job, you can only get paid for your work once.

Another great benefit to creating information products is that you do not need much money to get started. If you are creating an e-course, you will need word processing software and an autoresponder. You can write the information and then load it into the autoresponder, which will automatically send each day’s course to the subscribers.

For e-books and special reports, you will also need word processing software. Since different people have different types of programs, you can convert your file into a pdf format. Anyone who downloads Adobe Reader (for free) will be able to read your e-book or report. You do not need to have special software to convert your file; there are many ways to create a pdf for free, such as Google docs.

For information products containing audio, for about $20 per month, you can subscribe to www.audioacrobat.com. This service will allow you to record audio from your telephone or computer microphone. You simply add a bit of HTML to your website and your audio can be heard streaming live, over the internet.
