Are you new to article marketing? You can make money from your articles, however you need to get started on the right foot. Here are three essential tips for success.

1. Remember That Article Marketing Is Advertising

Article marketing is basically advertising, using information as bait. The aim of the information is to be useful, to serve as an introduction to you and your services, and to gain credibility.

Therefore, get familiar with the product or service that you’re promoting. Remember that each article you write is an introduction to that product, and make that introduction count.

2. What Do Your Prospects Get out of Your Promotions?

In your articles, you’re giving away free information. You need to ensure that that information is valuable to your prospects. If it’s not valuable, and not credible, you’re doing a disservice to whatever it is you’re promoting.

Remember that your articles will stay online for years, and will keep selling for you for years, but only if they stay in the search engines’ indices. If people click away from your articles instantly, your articles will be be dumped, and won’t be visible to searchers.

This is why it’s a mistake to focus solely on quick clicks.

Article views matter little: what matters is the response. It’s much better to get fewer article views and more sales rather than many article views and no sales at all.

Therefore, make your articles credible and valuable. Every article you write could still be selling for you five years from now — if you put little effort into them.

3. Plan and Execute: Schedule Your Promotions

Article marketing is becoming more competitive. It’s always been popular, but as more businesses become aware of the value of article marketing, there’s more competition for article views.

This means that you need to write more articles to get results this year than you needed to write last year, and you’ll need to write even more articles next year to get the same results.

Therefore, you need to create plans and execute them. Once you’ve executed a plan, review it, to see what the results were.

Got Web content? If you have, you know that content equals traffic, which equals sales. However, you may not be getting as much out of your content as you could — here are three vital tips which will help.

1. Size Matters: You Need Content to Become Visible

You’ve noticed that more and more businesses are flocking online: they’re following their customers. This means that no matter what industry you’re in, you’ve got more competition than you had last year, and you’ll have more competition again next year.

Does that scare you?

It shouldn’t, because here’s the answer: use content to beat your competition.

On the Web, size matters. A content-rich site with 10,000 pages will get more organic, free traffic than a tiny site with just 50 pages.

Take a moment right now, and check out your competitors. How large are their sites? How many links do they have?

Once you’ve checked them, create a content marketing plan, but test your keywords first.

Here’s how.

2. Use Pay Per Click to Test Keywords

The developers who sell keyword tools on the Web would like you to think that their tools are somehow magical: the keywords they deliver are all you need for success. This is not so. Here’s your best keyword tool: it’s right between your ears.

Before you check any keyword tool, look at your positioning statement for your site, and brainstorm keywords. Ask colleagues, friends and family members to help you to brainstorm too. (You’ll be amazed at the results, I promise you.)

Any keyword tool you use (even Google’s wonderful tool) is historical. It tells you what search query terms were used in the past. However, much of the traffic to your site arrives using unique query terms. By brainstorming regularly, and getting into the mind of your customers, you’ll not only have a bank of keywords which delivers cash, but you’ll also have unique content which will pay dividends for months and years to come.

Then, once you’ve got a bank of keywords, use Pay Per Click (PPC) to test and find your best converting keywords. When you create content using those “best” keywords, your content will work hard for you.

Here’s how to make your content work even harder: use it to build relationships.

3. Content Builds Relationships: Use Email Marketing to Get Return Visits

Focusing on traffic which converts is essential for Web marketing, but your aim is to turn occasional visitors to your site into frequent visitors.

Strategies like email marketing, and social media marketing will bring you return visitors. Use your Web content repurposed, to create reasons for your visitors to keep coming back.

Are you looking for ways to promote your Web site? The more targeted traffic you get, the more sales you will make. Let’s look at five quick and easy ways to get traffic and rankings.

1. Pay Attention to Basics: Your Pages’ Titles and Descriptions — They’re Free Advertising

Google and the other search engines will advertise your site for free for you, using precisely the keywords and descriptions you want. Take advantage of that free largesse.

Here’s how. Look at your site’s home page in any browser. What do you see at the very top of the browser window? If you see “Home” you need to act.

Fix the “keyword” and “description” meta tags on every page of your site. Remember, when people are searching online, your site gets advertised for free by appearing in the search engine results pages.

2. Get Links, but Ensure They’re Relevant

Without links, the Web wouldn’t exist. All other things being equal, a site with many links will be ranked more highly than sites with few links. Get relevant links to your site. There are many ways to do this.

3. Get Into Google News

Want your site to appear in Google News? Here’s how: write a press release, and post it on one of the commercial press release sites. In long term traffic boosts, and ranking boosts, this will be the best money you’ll ever spend.

4. Create and Promote Your Blog to Drag Your Site Into the Rankings

Do you have a blog? Create a blog for your site. The search engines love blogs, and your blog can drag the rest of your site into the search engine rankings. Pay attention to the keywords you use in your blog; use the keywords for which you want to be ranked, and link to the rest of your site with those keywords.

5. Advertise Frugally: Use Pay Per Click (PPC) to Get an Instant Flow of Traffic

The fastest way to get good traffic is to advertise. However, be frugal when you do this. Bid only on the keywords which are directly relevant to your site’s offerings. Ensure that your keywords are “long tail” — avoid competitive keywords.
